What is dry ice?
Dry Ice is frozen carbon dioxide (CO2), the gas we exhale as we breathe. It is much denser and colder than traditional ice. Dry ice is -109.3° F (-79.5° C). Traditional ice is 32° F (0° C). Dry ice doesn't melt, it sublimates. Sublimation is the process of going directly from a solid to a gas. Dry ice by-passes the liquid form, giving it it's name "Dry Ice."

How long does it last?
Dry ice will sublimate at the rate of 10 lbs. every 24 - 36 hours, in a standard insulated container. The more dry ice you have in the container, the longer it will last. Dry Ice Estimated Effective

Cooling Time
10 lb. 24 hours
15 lb. 48 hours
20 lb. 72 hours

How to handle & Store Dry Ice...
  • DO NOT store in air-tight containers or in unventilated rooms/vehicles!
  • NEVER handle with bare hands!
  • ALWAYS wear gloves when handling!
  • Children should NOT HANDLE!
  • Refrain from opening and closing the insulated container as much as possible!
  • When using for COOLING place in the bottom of container. DO NOT allow food or cans to have direct contact. Place insulating material between dry ice and the product (such as cardboard, wet ice, or news paper.)
  • When used for FREEZING place on top of items you want frozen.
  • Keep dry ice wrapped in paper for safety, and the insulation will extend the life of it.
  • Dry ice can extend the life of wet ice by 40 hours, when small amounts of wet ice are placed on top of dry ice.
  • When you remove items from container, fill the empty spaces with newspaper. Any "dead air" space will cause it to sublimate faster.
